Vian Gredvig MSW, LICSW

IMG_4451Vian earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and went on to earn her Masters in Social Work at the University of Minnesota, specializing in Clinical Social Work. She has broad work experience that includes residential treatment, foster care, and school social work. For the last 18 years, Vian has been working as an Outpatient Clinical therapist for one of the local major Health systems. In that role, she has had extensive experience with a wide variety of mental health issues. In this role, she has provided individual, couples and family therapy.

Vian’s belief is that life is a journey and we all come across challenges that can be difficult to go through alone. We can become stuck and unable to make progress. Vian has a supportive, collaborative approach and will work with you to build on your strengths and increase coping skills. Together you will identify goals for therapy, so that the direction of the work is clear. Vian uses Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused therapy and Mindfulness skills which are known to be effective with a wide variety of issues. She provides therapy to individuals, couples, families and children ages 10 and up. Vian thrives when working with people of all cultures and backgrounds.

Some of Vian’s Clinical Focuses include: Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Relationship issues,  Work/Academic stress, Postpartum depression, Trauma, Behavioral and Emotional disorders of children and adolescents, Parenting Challenges, Communication Skills , Conflict Resolution, Assertiveness Skills, Self-Esteem, Codependency, and Anger Management.

In her free time, Vian enjoys spending time with family and friends. Other interests include gardening, fishing  and a whole variety of outdoor activities. Her favorite indoor activity is playing games, especially Scrabble. When possible, Vian loves to travel, both close to home and abroad.
