Carey Velenchenko, LAc, MCM, Acupuncturist

Carey Velenchenko is National Board certified and is licensed by the State Medical Board to practice acupuncture medicine. She has been in practice for 19 years and has experience treating clients in a wide variety of settings including: private practice, and adolescent and adult residential eating disorder treatment.
Her experience has given her the necessary tools and wisdom to treat a wide variety of patients with conditions and symptoms including but not limited to depression, anxiety, digestive issues, pain and injuries, menstrual irregularities, fertility, auto-immune disorders, headaches and migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and menopausal discomfort.
Carey attended the Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota. She studied both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine and graduated in 2002 with a Master’s Degree in Chinese Medicine.
Carey takes the time with each patient to listen and to address all of their questions and concerns, with each person’s comfort in mind. She focuses on each unique individual, not just their presenting complaint, to provide truly holistic care. Carey enjoys working with patients of all ages and in all stages of illness, recovery, and wellness.
Before discovering her passion for Chinese Medicine, Carey was a dancer. She studied Dance at the University of Minnesota and in 1991 co-founded a non-profit dance company with the mission of bringing dance into communities to empower women of color and at-risk youth. As a healthcare practitioner, Carey continues to feel passionate about working to dismantle structural and systemic racism, including that which targets people of East Asian and Pacific Island decent. As a practitioner of a traditional medicine of a culture that is not her own, she strives to be aware of cultural appropriation of traditional medicines and is committed to practicing in a way that remains true to what her teachers intended.
“As a practitioner of an East Asian Medicine, I would like to acknowledge the teachers I have had the privilege to learn from who are of East Asian descent.”:

I’ve been struggling with nerve pain in my legs for several months. It has affected being able to do the activities I want with my kids and being able to perform my best with my job as an RN. Carey and Dr. Courtney have restored my quality of life and helped me heal on this challenging time in my life. The gift they’ve given me through acupuncture and chiropractic care has been a gift I am very grateful for.
Carey always meets me where I’m at. She takes time to talk before we begin. I know she cares about me and my wellness.

I saw Carey for the first time yesterday for Acupuncture. I came in stressed, tired, you name it I probably had it. Carey listed to my story, asked questions then started the Acupuncture. She answered questions along the way and made sure I was comfortable with what she was doing. But this isn't the story.
The real story is I came out calm, refreshed, I got a good night's sleep and woke up this morning not feeling totally drained. I've been drained after sleep for a long, long time. I can't wait for my next appointment.

I’ve always been one to come down with the sniffles and grab whatever OTC cough syrup I could find, only to be in bed for a week anyway.. and then I met
Carey. Initially, I started seeing her for chronic pain, but it became evident pretty quickly that she was interested in the full picture and how it all connected. She listened intently to my physical, mental and emotional well-being, and through her work she suggested a few small changes. Nothing
Carey has advised me to do has ever not worked. In fact, it has all outperformed everything else I was trying - I believe this is because of her attentive, curious approach to wellness.. not one detail of how I felt escaped her. Instead, she wove it into the bigger picture of my overall health and used it to guide me accordingly. In short, if you feel bad, see
Carey. If you feel great.. see
Carey.
